How to Create the Perfect Valentine's Day Dinner
February can only mean one thing. Valentine’s Day. When you think of Valentine's Day, you think of candy, flowers and nice restaurants. This year, change it up and try preparing a Valentines Day dinner for that special someone. Not only is this romantic, but you can create a wonderful meal all while being in the comfort of your own home! This article will give you some easy ideas for decorating, dinner recipes and what to get as the perfect gift!
First, you need to create a romantic mood for the evening. Flowers will set the evening in motion while also working as a great centerpiece. To add a creative twist to Candy Heart, put them in a vase or jar and take turns pulling them out and reading them to each other. Pick up candles and your favorite kind of music. Other things to add are rose petals and a place card that has a short poem on it professing your love. Be creative and romantic!
You can begin the meal by deciding what appetizers and/or salads you want to serve before dinner. A simple appetizer, an antipasto platter, includes salami, cheeses and crackers. To add a special touch, slice the salami and cheese in heart-shapped pieces! I use Volpi Genova salami. The flavors in the meats blend well with the cheeses. This is an extremely easy appetizer to assemble and create. I would suggest mixed field greens for the salad, tossed in olive oil and balsamic. Pick up a small jar of roasted red peppers and add the Valentine color. If your special someone likes salami, add a few slices to the salad.
It's time to choose what you are having for dinner! Pasta is a perfect Valentine's Day dish! I would suggest Fettucini Alfredo. This pasta dish is easy to make and a simple touch can make all the difference. Try adding a variety of cheeses like parmesan and Romano. Try adding some pecorino cheese. You can toss in vegetables like fresh peas along with meats like Pancetta. Similarly with the salami, you can find excellent Pancetta at Volpi Foods’ online Italian store.
A nice Sangiovese or Chianti would compliment the meal. Either would complement the Fettucini.
Choosing which dessert to serve will be your biggest challenge. Here are a few choices. You can keep with the Italian theme of the night by picking up some cannolis or tiramisu. Create heart-shaped sugar cookies with red icing or get a cheesecake and put strawberry sauce on top to carry on the red theme. There are many more desserts to choose from, but these are my favorites. These desserts are fairly easy to make or purchase.
To add the magical touch, don't forget to pick up a meaningful and special gift! That perfect gift could include chocolate-covered strawberries, a couple's massage, his or her's favorite movie or a special photo in a picture frame?
